Delve into the uncharted wilds of Tanzania on this wildlife focused African adventure combing the pounding hooves of the Serengeti migration, the roaring lions of remote Ruaha and the underwater beauty of the Indian Ocean. Ruaha National Park contains 10% of the world’s lion population and remains one of the least explored and largest national parks in Africa. From our remote eco-camp you’ll enjoy daily game drives and walks through tumbling granitic kopjes, grasslands punctuated with enormous Baobabs and riverine woodlands to see record numbers of lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog who roam this untouched wildlife refuge

+Days 2-4Serengeti National Park - Olakira Migration Camp
Enjoy a beautiful scenic flight this morning, soaring over the Ngorongoro crater and rift valley escarpment on an expeditious route to the heart of the Serengeti National park. Break out your binoculars and begin your first game drive as you make your way to a Olakira Camp. This deluxe mobile safari camp follows the great migration throughout the year, so whenever you travel you’ll be perfectly poised to take in this ecological spectacle. From December – March the camp is located in the verdant and expansive short grass plains of the southern Serengeti. In February, thousands of new babies are born within a two week time period making this a particularly dynamic time to visit the area. From June – November the camp migrates to the very northern reaches of the park and takes a prime location near the Mara River where the migration make their perilous crossing to the Kenyan side of the border with crocodiles nipping at their heels. Each day you’ll have the option of an early morning game drive and a picnic breakfast, or leaving a bit later and taking your lunch with you. Longer game drives enable you to visit different areas of the Serengeti looking for struggles between predator and prey or the chance to watch interactions between different families of elephants. Look for elephant belly rumbles as they greet each other, or witness lion cubs doing somersaults as they chase their litter mates. Touching the earth lightly, this canvas camp all but disappears into the surrounding bush. Eight wonderful en-suite tents ensure an intimate and authentic wilderness experience.

Olakira Migration Camp
Witness all the action of the wildebeest migration from Asilia’s Olakira Migration Camp. From June to October, watch the wildebeest and zebra traverse the northern Serengeti, crossing the famous Mara River and its crocodile-infested waters. From December into March, visit our southern Serengeti location where the wildebeest give birth while lion, cheetah, and leopard prey on the old and the weak. Offering an upgraded migratory camp experience, the unique design of each guest tent allows for stargazing without leaving the comfort of your tent.
Experience an intimate tented camp that follows the wildebeest migration across the Serengeti plains: Olakira Camp spends several months in two different locations to ensure ringside seats for all the drama of Nature’s biggest show. Head south to the Ndutu region to witness the wildebeest birthing season or try the camp’s northern location and watch the herds cross the crocodile-filled Mara River. Spend your time on morning and afternoon game drives in search of the Serengeti’s remarkable wildlife before unwinding after a day of adventure and sharing your stories about the day’s sightings around a campfire.
+Days 5-7Ruaha National Park, Kwihala Tented Camp
Considered one of the undiscovered wildernesses of East Africa, Ruaha fans out from the Ruaha River, the lifeline of the park. This massive national park is the largest in Tanzania at over 20,000 km2 and is even larger than the Kruger National Park in South Africa. It also hosts an estimated 10% of the lions in the world as well as boasting the world’s third largest population of wild dogs. It is one of the few areas with a sustainable population of cheetah left in E. Africa. In addition to the staggering number of unique predators, the varying topography of rocky granitic outcrops “kopjes”, majestic baobabs, and expansive grassland plains are home to species not found in northern Tanzania parks including sable, roan, and greater and lesser kudu. Your camp is in one of the best locations within the national park, perfectly situated between the Mwagusi Sand River and the Mwagusi Valley. This section of the national park is at the core of the national park, where the game density is particularly concentrated. Kwihala Camp will be your deluxe outpost from which to explore the vast surroundings. With only 6 tented camps the experience offers an intimate and unfettered wilderness experience best suited for the true safari traveler. The park becomes a different world after the rains in December with trees erupting into leaf and the Great Ruaha River swelling to bursting. Keep your eyes open for leopard, lion, buffalo, impala, warthog and cheetah and look for elephants passing through camp.

Kwihala Tented Camp
Kwihala is a very luxurious way to blend into your environment and enjoy a true Ruaha Safari experience. It is situated very close to the Mwagusi area of the park which is known for very good game viewing.
It offers its guests a very different style of luxury safari. The surroundings are raw and wild and the camp blends nicely into it. The main tent is small, elegant and very comfortable. It is designed in a simple fashion with locally made tapestries adorning the canvas walls. From the main tent you can see the pathways leading off through the bush to the secluded guest tents and dining areas. The camp itself is very small, which makes the service extremely personalised.
The tents are spacious and very comfortable (especially the beds which prove quite hard to arise from for the early morning game drives!), the en-suite bathrooms are well appointed. The tents are nicely spread out, enabling each guest the opportunity to really enjoy the park the way it should be, wild and remote.
